Northgate to Celebrate 'Western Round-Up'

The Northgate High School Vikings will celebrate Homecoming the week of September 16 – 20, 2013. This year's theme is ' Northgate's Western Round-Up.'

Spirit week activities begin with 'American Monday' as students dress in red, white, and blue showing their patriotic spirit. Tuesday is 'Cowboys & Villains,' when students dress opposite from a friend. On Wednesday, students will celebrate 'Western Wednesday' and dress like their favorite cowboy or cowgirl.

The fun will continue Wednesday at the annual Powderpuff Football Game. Girls' teams from each class play football while the boys cheer them on from the sidelines. The Powderpuff Game will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the stadium. Admission is $4 for all spectators. The community is invited to attend this entertaining event. Thursday offers another day of excitement with 'Wild, Wild West' as students fashionably wear their ever-favorite tacky attire.

Friday is Spirit Day. All students are encouraged to wear their Homecoming T-shirts. This yea r 's T-shi rt was designed and printed by Promotional Graphix of Newnan. The Viking Band, AFJROTC, Homecoming Court, and Northgate Clubs and Organizations will parade throughout the campus to prepare the football team to 'Rope those Mustangs.' Shortly after, the student body will gather in Johnny Brown gym for the Homecoming pep rally. The Homecoming King will be crowned at the pep rally.

On Friday evening the Varsity football team will take on the Ola Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. at Henry Seldon Field. The ladies of the Homecoming Court will be presented and the 2013 Homecoming Queen crowned at halftime. The crown has been generously donated by R. Dubose Jewelers of downtown Newnan. Homecoming week will end on Saturday with a semi-formal dance in the Johnny Brown gym at 7:00 p.m.
