Coweta County students Connie Hauser and Dalton Trammell are among the 28 south metro area high school students participating in this summer's Young Scholar Summer Internship Program through the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in Griffin.

The program targets students with a high aptitude in math and science related subjects. Interns work side-by-side with CAES researchers for six weeks, learn job responsibility and are paid for up to 40 hours of work per week.

Working with their mentor- scientist, the students develop a science project and present reports on their projects and essays detailing their summer internship experience.

Hauser, the daughter of Phillip Hauser and Laura Hauser of Sharpsburg, is determining genetic variations in blueberries by studying their DNA. Trammell, the son of Wesley Trammell and Leigh Trammell of Moreland, is working in the university's wheat breeding laboratory.
