Alpha Delta Kappa members receive honors

by Celia Shortt

Alpha Delta Kappa is an international teacher sorority whose purpose is to promote scholarship and altruism. Two local Chi Chapter members received honors in the 2012-2013 school year. They are Nancy Schwoebel and Glenna With.

Nancy Schwoebel teaches at Evans Middle School. Mrs. Schwoebel was asked to attend a meeting in Washington, D.C. on June 13th and 14th to review proposed testing items to appear on the ACCESS test in the future for EL students. There are 31 states in WIDA, the World Class Instructional Design and Assessment, that works in conjunction with The Center for Applied Linguistics. Mrs. Schwoebel will be collaborating with representatives from other states in producing a test that asks input from those currently working with English Language Learners. This is considered quite an honor for Mrs. Schwoebel.

Recently, the East Coweta Middle School National Honor society students received the state's Outstanding Organization of the Year Award from Georgia Special Olympics.

Working closely with East Coweta National Honor Society students, Mrs. Glenna With, a 12th grade English teacher at ECHS, helped these students achieve the goals of the National Honor Society, which are: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. There were approximately 35 ECHS students that worked with Special Education students during the school year.

Alpha Delta members are very proud of Mrs. Schwoebel and Mrs. With for their contributions to education, their continued dedication and commitment to the community, and the students they help reach their goals.
