Konos Academy adds new athletics program

Konos Academy recently announced it will field athletic teams for the first time this year.
Konos Condors will be the mascot for competitive girls volleyball, cross-country, tennis, boys basketball, golf and soccer teams. Tryouts will be open for home-schoolers and students from small private schools without athletics programs. Students can earn physical education credits through Konos sports participation.
An accredited Christian, home-school hybrid academy with classes in Fayetteville and Peachtree City, Konos draws students from the southern crescent and as far away as Carrollton and Covington. Condor volleyball games started in late August, with home games played at the Kedron Field House in Peachtree City.
Tryouts are for tennis will be held Sept. 10 at 4:30 p.m. at Kenwood Park in Fayetteville under the supervision of tennis coach Garrett Reid. Basketball tryouts will be in early October. Konos is helping participants raise their team fees through sales, car washes and a talent show.
