Education Notes: CEC plans HOPE workshop, College Probe Fair and Career Day this fall

Coweta County’s Central Educational Center will hold a HOPE Scholarship workshop Sept. 6 at 6 p.m., the first in a series of fall exploratory events for students.
CEC’s annual Open House and College Probe Fair is set for Oct. 1 from 6-8 p.m. The annual Probe Fair is open to all Coweta County high school students, and usually includes representatives from more than 50 universities, colleges and technical schools. Representatives provide interested students with admissions materials and discuss the various offerings at their respective schools.
CEC’s Career Day will take place in two sessions Nov. 28, from 8-10 a.m. and from 12:45-2:15 p.m.

ASU to create new alumni chapter in Newnan
An informational meeting for the new Newnan Chapter of the Alabama State University Alumni Association chapter will be held July 21 at 11 a.m. at Golden Corral, 605 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan.
At the Dutch-treat luncheon meeting, prospective members are asked to forward ideas to help formulate the new chapter, reconnect and network with other ASU Hornets. The goal is to promote and preserve the university’s vision, goals, traditions, alumni growth and engagement.

Coweta/Fayette UGA alumni to meet July 19

The UGA Alumni Association of Coweta and Fayette counties will hold a chapter interest meeting July 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Mellow Mushroom in Peachtree City, 275 Hwy. 74 North.

UGA alumni interesting in connecting with the association are invited to join other members for dinner. Guests, who will discuss leadership roles and growing the Coweta/Fayette chapter, are responsible for the cost of their own food and beverages.
