Coweta based Tin Roof Films will have a free, public viewing of its short film "Last Bullet" Friday evening at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts in Newnan. The screening starts at 7 p.m

The Vietnam War-era production was filmed in October on the grounds of Senoia's Riverwood Studios.

"I'm really happy with the way it turned out," said producer/director Jason Winn.

In "Last Bullet," best friends Shane and Matt dive into a nearby bunker to avoid the onslaught of bullets from Viet Cong fighters, only to discover that Matt has been hit and is rapidly losing blood. A decision is made in a matter of moments. Shane must run off for help in order for both men to survive.

Matt is on his own, his only connection to the world outside the foxhole a radio crackling with sporadic updates. When a nearby explosion leaves him deaf, he's unable to hear that Shane is on his way with reinforcements.

Tension mounts as the question becomes, "Who will Matt kill with his last bullet?"

Tin Roof Film founders Winn and Mike Buchanan transformed the Senoia woods into a Vietnam battleground. Special effects were handled by Bob Shelley, known for work on "Ghostbusters," "Desperado," "Remember the Titans" and other film projects .

Buchanan credits Vietnam veteran Andy Rice, whose first-hand experiences and willingness to share them were "very instrumental" in making the film as real as possible.

The film premiered in Blue Ridge with a group of Vietnam veterans, and also with middle and high school students.

"It has a way of connecting the audience members with each other," said Winn. He said seeing others' response to the film and hearing their discussions of the work is a "humbling" experience.

The production company will be having showings of the film in venues similar to the Centre all over the South.

The actors are Matt Perello and J. Todd Smith. Perello, born in Baton Rouge, La. and raised in Peachtree City, now lives in Kennesaw, where he is studying Mass Media at Kennesaw State University. Smith got his start in the entertainment industry, at age 4, with a local commercial. He received his formal training at The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and Loyola University New Orleans. He has been featured in such films as "Ray," and "Glory Road," and on K-Ville, FOX's television drama about New Orleans Police officers dealing with post-Katrina conditions. Most recently, to critical acclaim, J. Todd starred in "Before I Wake," the Grand Prize Winner of the 2008 Doorpost Film Project, an international film festival.

Tin Roof Films will begin production in 2009 for the feature film, "Treasure of the Four Lions," a story of three modern-day kids who, with the help of Civil War ghosts, search to find the lost gold of the Confederacy. Winn said he anticipates that the project will begin in the summer.

Tin Roof Films is a collaborated effort between Winn, Buchanan and fellow writer Diane Lang.
