Quick Poll

Do you think the City of Newnan should have waited until at least mid-month to begin hanging its Christmas decorations in downtown rather than the first week in November?

Newnan Realtors attend convention

In the current challenging real estate market it is more important than ever for Realtors to stay abreast of changes in the market as well as to hone skills that make them more valuable than ever in the real estate transaction.

Some Newnan Realtors attended the Georgia Association of Realtors (GAR) Annual Convention and Trade Show held at the Sandestin Resort in Destin, Fla., Sept. 3-6 and ending with the Board of Directors' meeting on Sept. 7.

Among the classes offered were "GAR Contracts: Practical Application," "Blogs - Are you Ready to Communicate in the New World," "Who's Coming to Closing?," "Seven Tips to Maximize Microsoft Outlook," "Realtor Safety," "Home Staging: A Different Perspective," "SMS and IM: Are you Ready to Communicate in the New World?," "Capture the Right Image with Your Digital Camera" and "Ethics: The Picture of Professionalism." Additionally there were forums and discussion groups held on Legal Issues, Multi Cultural Diversity, and Multiple Listing Services.

The keynote speaker was internationally acclaimed real estate sales trainer, David Knox.

As an authority on pricing, negotiating and selling, he combines humor with solid information. He stressed the importance of pricing properties correctly at listing rather than reducing the price.

The Trade Expo offered more than 70 vendors with products such as technology, marketing and legal services as well as natural gas, security systems, inspection services, insurance and electrical services. Products and services featured were for Realtors and/or real estate buyers and sellers.

Not all real estate practitioners are Realtors, note the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors representatives. Only Realtors are members of the National Association of Realtors and are bound by a professional Code of Ethics.
