Weight loss center Inches-A-Weigh, located in the Publix shopping center at 1111 Lower Fayetteville Rd., held its Coweta County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting/grand opening recently.
There are currently more than 85 Inches-A-Weigh centers located throughout North America, but the Newnan franchise is the first to open in the state of Georgia, according to co-owner Kelly Tripp.
"There seemed to be a lot of need in Coweta and Fayette Counties for a place like this," said Tripp. "The entire Lower Fayetteville/Newnan Crossing Blvd. area has grown so much, it just seemed like a good location for us. Plus, we live in the area and it's great to have a business in Newnan."
Chuck and Kelly Tripp were attracted to Inches-A-Weigh in part because "they are teaching women how to change their lifestyle in a safe and fun environment that helps increase their chances for success," said Chuck. "This is truly a one-stop shop when it comes to women's weight loss.
"We had to go through some rigorous training before we opened our doors and that training continues on an ongoing basis to ensure we stay on top of how best we can ensure our clients weight loss success."
The husband-and-wife team met in Coweta County in January 2001 and were married in May 2002. They wanted to become more involved with the local community and saw Inches-A-Weigh as an opportunity to make that a reality.
"We did a lot of research on the different opportunities available out there," Chuck said. "We liked Inches-A-Weigh because of their unique program, the personal attention given to each of its weight loss clients and the freedom to add our own personal touches to the design and layout of our center."
Most of their clients are from the Newnan area however, they have ladies that drive from as far away as Douglasville, Fayetteville, Villa Rica and Gay to take advantage of what they offer here in Newnan.
"We are pleased to report that we have already helped our clients lose over 3,100 inches and 1,300 pounds," said Kelly.
Next on the horizon is to make Coweta County the healthiest county in Georgia for women. Obesity and heart disease are two of the biggest health related issues facing women in America today. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, women in Georgia were ranked 43rd in the nation for obesity related deaths and 40th for heart disease deaths. Now, thanks to the recent opening of Inches-A-Weigh, the women of Coweta County have a fighting chance to ensure they do not become part of those statistics.
Inches-A-Weigh is a National Weight Loss Center program that was started by Scott Simcik in 1986 with the goal of providing women of all ages and fitness levels a safe, supportive environment where they can find the essential elements needed to ensure long-lasting results. The three-phase program is founded on the established guidelines set by the American Heart and Dietetic Associations and the Surgeon General.
"It is based on facts not fads," said Kelly. "The problem with fad diets is they are not practical and therefore cannot be sustained. You will eventually go back to your routine way of eating and will gain back the weight that you worked so hard to lose."
The Inches-A-Weigh figure shaping equipment is designed to tone and firm your problem areas and it is combined with one-on-one nutritional counseling and cardiovascular exercise.
"In an age of fad diets and weight loss pills that do not bring permanent results, women feel lost when it comes to losing weight. There is now a proven program that literally takes the inches away the right way and will give women a strong foundation for permanent weight loss." said Chuck.
