Coweta in Focus

Seeing is believing

by Greg Wright, President, Coweta County Development Authority

One of the things the Development Authority does to help promote Coweta County is to host community tours for project managers and consultants who work directly with economic development prospects. These are the people that companies go to when they are considering where to put a new facility in Georgia.

The purpose of these tours is simple: the more the project managers and consultants know about Coweta County, our sites and our available buildings (as limited as our inventory is right now), the more likely they are to refer Coweta County as a quality location to their prospects or clients.

We recently hosted a visit by a project manager who had not visited Coweta County for some time, and to say he was amazed with what he saw is an understatement.

Just consider some of the stops on our tour: the construction site for HealthSouth, Piedmont Newnan Hospital, the Coweta Campus of West Georgia Technical College, Central Educational Center, the expansion work at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Newnan-Coweta Airport, the renovation of the former Newnan Hospital for the University of West Georgia, the new public safety complex in Newnan, construction under way at Niagara Bottling, the expansion at Yokogawa Corporation of America, our downtown areas, and the latest expansion at Winpak Films.

I know it is human nature to take for granted the things we see and do every day, but I hope that we can all take a moment to step back and appreciate the great things that are happening in our community. From north to south and east to west, activity is strong, and we are very fortunate to live a great place like Coweta County.
