Big Daddy’s BBQ opens

Big Daddy’s BBQ & More has opened on Temple Avenue in Newnan, in the space previously occupied by Westside and Bessie’s Kitchen. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Big Daddy’s original location is in Franklin. The Newnan store has the same items as the Franklin location, plus a few more

Dollar General coming to Dodson at MLK

A Dollar General store is being built southeast of downtown Newnan on Dodson Street at Martin Luther King Drive, near the Central Educational Center.

New stores coming to Thomas Crossroads area

Two stores are under construction in the Thomas Crossroads area at the intersection of Highways 34 East and 154.

A Pep Boys automotive store and service center is being built on Hwy. 34 East in front of Tractor Supply.

A Dollar Tree is being built on an outparcel in front of the Newnan East Goodwill Center, also on Hwy. 34 East at 154.

Summer “Women Wealth and Wisdom” events added

Three summer events have been added to the Women Wealth and Wisdom educational series.

June 25 will feature State. Rep. Lynn Smith, R-Newnan. July 23 will be a women’s roundtable, and on Aug. 20, the topic will be “Philanthropy — leaving a legacy within your community.”

The talks are held at White Oak Golf Club, 141 Club View Drive, Newnan. They are from noon to 1 and lunch will be served. There is no charge but RSVPs are required.

J. Smith Lanier & Co. raises $210,000 for Brain Tumor Foundation for Children

The 10th Annual J. Smith Lanier & Co. Charity Classic golf tournament raised more than $210,00 for the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children.

The event was held at Chateau Élan Golf Club north of Atlanta. More than 300 golfers and 13 BFTC children and their families were on hand to play golf and meet the sponsors.

In its 10 years, the event has raised more than $1.8 million for the foundation. Over the past decade, the BFTC has grown from serving just Georgia families to children and families all over the Southeast and some in New England.
