Orme speaking to Business Women of Fayette and Coweta April 22
Business Attorney Melissa Orme will help local businesswomen avoid legal traps with her presentation to the Business Women of Fayette and Coweta on April 22, “Common Legal Mistakes Small Business Owners Make.”
“Legal issues are often overlooked by entrepreneurs, anxious to get their businesses off the ground. Legal details that don’t seem pressing at the start can mean the difference between success and failure later on. Fortunately, many common pitfalls can be avoided with the right planning and execution,” said Orme, who is affiliated with Lindsey Law in Peachtree City.
Orme has more than 30 years business experience. She began her career as a certified public accountant with a “Big 4” firm, moving to a Fortune 50 corporation to develop her corporate finance skills through a series of domestic and international assignments. After returning to the U.S., she served as chief financial officer for The Coleman Company, the camping goods manufacturer. Orme graduated with honors from Northwestern School of Law and is a member of the Georgia Bar and the Georgia Society of CPAs. Melissa Orme also holds an MBA.
“One of my greatest joys is assisting small business owners in establishing and maintaining a firm legal foundation, so that they can confidently dedicate their time and energy to building a successful business,” shared Orme.
"Melissa Orme brings deep and varied experience to the BWFC, as a member and volunteer. Since I’ve interacted with her professionally, I can vouch for her applied knowledge and efficiency. I’m pleased that she’ll be presenting to our group of women in business," said Ellie White-Stevens, Marketing Guru and BWFC president.
The Tuesday, April 22, meeting will also be a networking opportunity. Women who own, manage, or sell in business are especially encouraged to attend. The event will be at Maguire’s Irish Pub in Senoia, with networking and dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the full meeting at 7pm. Reservations are not required.
BWFC meets at Maguire’s in Senoia on even months. The BWFC’s mission is to give back for a better community. Their recent Hoedown for Champions benefited TEAM Alliance, which supports a Christian school serving orphans and other impoverished children in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya.
