Blimpie stores around the U.S. celebrated the chain’s 50th anniversary on April 4. The sandwich chain began when three high school friends in Hoboken, N.J. set out to create the greatest sub sandwich on the planet. They called it a Blimpie because they thought it resembled a blimp.

In celebration of the anniversary, local stores offered 50-cent Blimpie Best subs to the first 200 customers on April 4.
