The newly vacated Hospital Discount Pharmacy was purchased by Rite aid Pharmacy.

Citizens might have noticed the newly vacated Hospital Discount Pharmacy building on 98 Jackson Street near downtown Newnan.

Rite Aid Pharmacy recently purchased the business and began servicing existing customers from their store on 211 Temple Ave.

“Rite Aid purchased all pharmacy files from Hospital Discount,” said Rite Aid spokesperson Ashley Flower. “This way, existing customers of Hospital Discount don’t have to do anything. It was a seamless transaction.”

“We worked closely with Hospital Discount to make everything as customer friendly and provide as little inconvenience as possible,” said Flower.

“We have also brought along pharmacist Bob Stith and pharmacy technician Patrick Brand from the old store to the new location. We’re excited to have them and I’m sure customers will be happy to see their familiar faces behind the counter as well,” said Flower.

Rite Aid will be offering extended hours to help customers with the new transition — staying open until 10 p.m.

“There are a select handful of customers from Hospital Discount Pharmacy that received home delivery and we’ll be continuing that for them as well,” said Flower.

Rite Aid is the largest drugstore chain on the East Coast and the third largest drugstore chain in the U.S. with more than 4,623 stores. Rite Aid is headquartered in East Pennsboro Township, Pennsylvania and is a Fortune 500 company.
