165 Coweta foreclosures listed for February

By Sarah Fay Campbell

The Newnan Times-Herald

There are 165 foreclosure-related advertisements for February in today's edition of The Newnan Times-Herald.

Those advertisements include three commercial properties: Springhill Suites hotel, suite A of the commercial center at 3339 Highway 34, Sharpsburg, and 299 Bullsboro Drive.

All properties will be offered for sale on the courthouse steps on March 6.

This month's foreclosure related advertisements are down from last month, when there were 199 listed, but still up from December, when there were 155.

Year to year, foreclosures are significantly down this month. There were 227 foreclosure related advertisements in the Times-Herald in February 2011.

The advertisement for Springhill Suites, located at 1119 Bullsboro Drive, specifies that the "sale under power" includes not just the building but all furnishings, the telephone systems, landscaping, linens, kitchen equipment, dishes, food and beverages, cleaning materials, stationery, uniforms, and similar items as well as any vehicles.

The commercial center on Hwy. 34 East is located between Bradford Station Drive and Ebenezer Church Road.

The property at 299 Bullsboro Drive was for many years the home of the Special Events Center. The property was purchased by 299 Bullsboro LLC on May 5, 2009. The old building was demolished and a new structure was built; a records search revealed no tenants occupy the building.

According to Realty Trac, one in every 302 housing units in Coweta County received a foreclosure filing in December 2011.

In the state of Georgia, one of every 381 housing units received a foreclosure filing in December 2011, according to Realty Trac.

Has anyone ever heard what the number was before the housing crash? As a % would have some meaning.
